About Us

GeoFORCE is a youth education outreach program that targets underserved and low-income communities in Austin, Houston, and Southwest Texas. The Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas created GeoFORCE to identify and develop the next generation of STEM leadership for discovery, research, and management of energy, minerals, water, the environment, and natural hazards for the benefit of society.

The Opportunity

To provide administration, human resources, communication, and operations support to the GeoFORCE staff and youth outreach program.

Job Details:

This is a part-time (20 hour/week) benefits eligible position. GeoFORCE Texas is a youth outreach program designed to introduce students to STEM degrees and careers, especially in geology. The GeoFORCE team, made up of five coordinators and one program director, is charged with the planning and coordination of both virtual field academies and traveling academies to the following locations: Texas Gulf coast, the Grand Canyon, Pacific northwest, and central Texas. Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create, update, and maintain standard operating procedures. Assist with program and office schedule. Serve as liaison with Jackson School of Geosciences Business Office, staying in compliance with purchasing, hiring, and reconciliation processes. Serve as office inventory contact.

  • Support the hiring process for summer staff positions. Support onboarding processes for all summer staff. Communicate costing data with responsible parties.

  • Provide administrative support to the Program Director and Sr. Program Coordinator.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 5 years of related work experience.

  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with attention to detail.

  • Professional demeanor.

  • Ability to work standard office hours and maintain regular attendance.

  • Exceptional customer service with professional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or more years of related work experience.

  • Experience working in a governmental or higher education environment.

Salary range would be:
$22,500 + depending on qualifications (Salary pro-rated for hours worked, 20 per week.)
