Boys & Girls Clubs of Austin - The Family Engagement Manager

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Family Engagement Manager collects, manages, and allocates resources that can be provided to BGCAA families. They also coordinate with local non-profits to identify external resources and services BGCAA families can access.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

• Develops and manages a list of resources (financial, physical, service-based) that families can access directly from BGCAA.

• Develops an application process for families to access resources

• Manages the allocation of resources to families

• Coordinates with local non-profit organizations to identify additional resources and services that BGCAA families may access

• Supports Club Directors with Family Night / Family Event planning

• Provides communication to BGCAA families regarding upcoming events and services

• Tracks Family engagement metrics including participation and outcome data

• Develops Family Resource Centers to check out periodicals, videos, books and educational games/materials for the entire family

• Participate in the Clubs, when appropriate, campus needs assessment annually

• Manage Club financial resources assisting in the development of annual budgets. Expenditures should be calculated and controlled based on the finalized budget.

• Develop and maintain partnerships with parents, schools, community leaders, and other outside organizations

• Become an active and participating member of two civic organizations.

• Increase visibility of Club development activities and maintain good public relations within the Club and the community

• Data enters member data and participation into database

• Provides feedback to Club youth using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence in students

• Enforces Club rules and policies

• Maintains a professional and role-model persona

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Checks in and/or out youth attending Club adhering to procedures

• May be asked to supervise youth in various settings including classrooms, cafeteria, playground, multipurpose rooms, and field trips

• Meet all grant requirements

• Attends staff meetings and training sessions as prescribed

• May be required to drive a shuttle bus or Club transportation

• Perform other duties as assigned

• Maintain close daily contact with Club staff and Club members to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instruction

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, Associate’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or no degree and a minimum of 4 years relevant experience

• Must pass background check and submit reference check

• Must be able to work and interact professionally

• Proficient with computer equipment

• Ability to have adequate vision and hearing to ensure the safety of Club youth; and complete data entry requirement

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• If 21 years or older, hold a valid state Driver’s License and be willing to drive a shuttle bus

• Spanish speaking preferred

• Exemplary written and spoken communication skills

• Demonstrates dependability, accountability, and cooperation

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Preferred ability to stand for long periods of time

• Preferred ability to work in various weather conditions—hot, cold, rainy, etc

• Preferred ability to meet physical demands of working with youth

• Preferred ability to move equipment up to 25 pounds

• Preferred ability to endure periodically noisy environments (in the context of working with youth)
